After a 1-4 defeat in the first leg in Dubai last week, Tractor Sazi of Tabriz received a goal from Al Nasr in the 15th minute at Yadegar Emam Stadium by Salem Saleh on Tuesday to get entangled in an even more tough situation.
But the Iranian side found the net early in the second half by Farzad Hatami and Mohammad Iranpourian to lead the match 2-1 before Hatami’s second on 73 minutes, which gave Tractorsazi real hope to compensate for the loss in the first leg.
However, it was Al Nasr who survived and secured its place in the quarter-finals with Tractor Sazi dropping out of the tournament.
“I congratulate Al Nasr on this victory and I also thank our fans for their support,” said Tractor Sazi couch Amir Ghalehnoei.
“We should have scored five or six goals but it didn’t happen. Despite our good performance, we didn’t get the result we needed. This is one of my bad days. We played well but couldn’t emerge victorious,” he added.
