Iranian professional footballers of Zowbahan lined up against their Emirati rivals at multi-purpose Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in the city of Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates, at 8:10 p.m. Tehran time (1540 GMT) on Wednesday to have the first game of the two at the eighth-final round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League.
While the hosts opened the event with heavy pressure on Isfahanis, Yahya Golmohammadi’s players could not clear a corner strike early in the first half and the Brazilian striker of Al Ain, Douglas, opened the scoring for the Emiratis at the 9th minute of the event.
The hosts first half dominance did not fruit in any more goals for them as the visitors got back into the event, but the second half resulted into a precious equalizer for Isfahanis and the 1 away goal of Mohammad Abbasi at the 76th minute.
The away goal secured Iranian side to start as favourites to progress to the quarter-finals next week in Isfahan.
