Mohammad Fathali who replaced late Ghazanfar Roknabadi after the latter’s death during Mina incident late 2015 on the position sat with Samir Mokbel, country’s defense minister along with Iran’s military attaché, to discuss the Lebanese development and the current situations in the Middle East after the implementation of nuclear deal between Iran and 5+1; they also discussed past agreement implementation.
Mokbel expressed gratitude for the Islamic Republic of Iran for strengthening of Lebanese army. Fathali for his part presented an account of the achievements Iran scored during the JCPOA implementation and believed that it was a success for the whole region and opened a new chapter in Iran’s relations with its neighbors.
In another event, Fathali met with Lebanese commander-in-chief of the army to discuss the latest developments in security conditions of Lebanon and the Middle East. General Jean Kahwaji praised the positive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in keeping the region stable, and emphasized upon his forces’ efforts in thwarting terrorist infiltration into Lebanon and keeping the country a stable country amid the chaos of its surroundings.
Iran’s ambassador similarly extended his eulogy on Lebanese army and intelligence forces for their role in past years, and believed army, nation, and resistance was three important factors contributing to Lebanese territorial integrity and independence.
