Teams to vie at Iran Zamin Karate Cup announced

TEHRAN, Jan. 19 (MNA) – Iran Zamin Cup Karate tournament will convene in Tehran with the presence of seven Iranian and foreign teams.

The 11th round of Iran Zamin Karate Cup will take place in Iran’s capital on January 22-23, 2016.

So for, the participation of karate practitioners from South Korea, Hong Kong, Iraq, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan has been confirmed with the likelihood of some teams to attend the event from Georgia, Armenia, Turkey and Pakistan.

Accordingly, Azerbaijan, Hong Kong and Iraq will take part in the tournament each with 15, 35 and 8 athletes, respectively.

South Korea is scheduled to deploy karate fighters to both Men and Women’s sections of the event.

The prominent athlete in Hong Kong's team would be Lee Ka Ywai who owns two silver and bronze medals of Asian competitions, three bronze and silver of Asian championships as well as bronze of Austria’s Karate-1.

On the sidelines of Iran Zamin Cup, a technical seminar will be held on kata and kumite events for senior couches of foreign teams.

Iran will attend the tournament with a total of three teams.
