Iranian tennis player reaches 2nd round of Fujairah champs

TEHRAN, Jan. 13 (MNA) – Iranian tennis player has entered the second round of the U-18 Fujairah Tennis & CC ITF Junior Championships in UAE on Tuesday.

Competing at the 8th edition of ITF Junior Tennis Championships under-18 competition underway in UAE, Iran’s Ghazal Pakbaten managed to enter the second phase after gaining a 6-0 and 6-4 victory over the Serbian rival.

Pakbaten is scheduled to face the Italian athlete on Tuesday afternoon.

Sadaf Sadegh Vaziri, the other Iranian tennis player, conceded a defeat against the Hungarian rival dropping out of the tournament.

The competition is being held in Fujairah attended by several under-18 boys and girls from Turkey, Italy, France, Germany, Ukraine, Hungary, Russia, India, South Africa, Croatia as well as Iran.

ITF Junior Tennis Championships has now become one of the most important events in the Middle East.

The singles and doubles finals are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, January 15 and 16 respectively.

Iranian tennis players are preparing for the 2016 Fed Cup which is the 54th edition of the most important tournament between national teams in women's tennis.

Fed Cup will be held in February with the attendance of Iran, Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
