Being one of the earliest events conducted by the International Fencing Federation (FIE) in the new Christian calendar year, the Junior Men’s Sabre Individual World Cup will be held on January 09 in the Iranian capital city.
The deadline for expressing readiness to participate in the upcoming tournament was expired on Sunday January 3 while a total of 19 athletes from eight different countries have registered in the event.
Accordingly, Iraq with five fencers, Azerbaijani with four fencers, Ukraine, Egypt and Georgia each with 2 fencers as well as Tunisia and Argentina each with one representative will take part in Tehran’s World Cup.
Moreover, two Kuwaiti fencers will represent the FIE at the competitions while host Iran has introduced 22 sabra athletes to participate in the international event.
A total of 41 Iranian and foreign fencers will compete at the one-day 2016 Junior World Cup under the supervision of the International Fencing Federation.
The competitions will be fenced according to the FIE rules only in Sabra weapon and medals and diplomas will be awarded to the winners of the event.
