Attended by nine countries and hosted by Thailand, the fifth edition of Asian Judo Kata Championships was held on Sunday December 20 in Bangkok’s Rangsit University where the Iranian outfit managed to stand on the bronze podium winning one silver and four bronze medals.
Japan came first by snatching five medals followed by the South Korean team who claimed three silver medals.
Iranian judoka Mohammad Hassan Salari performed some astonishing grappling maneuvers in the Kodokan-Goshin-jitsu, and grabbed a silver medal. Japan won the title in Kodokan-Goshin-jitsu while Thiland collected the silver medal.
Fathollah Faridi and Hamireza Karimi Naser snatched bronze for Iran in the Nage-no-kata while Japan and South Korea finished first and second.
The Iranian squad consisting of Sina Mousavi and Mahdi Mohammadi won bronze medals in the Ju-no-kata after Japan and Thailand.
Iranian judokas Mohammad Ali Vahid and Reza Safi bagged bronze in the Katame-no-kata where Japanese and South Koreans won the gold and silver medals.
Meanwhile, Iranian kimenokata judokas Ali Hossein Mirzaei and Farzad Nateghpour collected another bronze medal for Iran on Sunday while Japan and South Korea came first and second, respectively.
The 5th Asian Judo Kata Championships - 2015, and JUA Kata Judge Seminar & Examination 2015, were held from 16th to 21st December 2015, at Nunthankan Building at Rangsit University, Bangkok, Thailand.
