Zarif meets Assad in al-Rawda Palace

TEHRAN, Aug. 12 (MNA) – Iran’s Javad Zarif has met with Syria’s Bashar al-Assad to discuss the crisis in the country as well as political solutions to ongoing crises in the region.

Mohammad Javad Zarif who is in a tour of the region, was received on Wednesday by Bashar al-Assad, Walid al-Muallem, his Foreign Minister, Bouthaina Shaaban, Assad’s Political and Media Adviser. Zarif heads a political delegation as well to Syria.

Both sides discussed political solutions to Syrian crisis and possible impact of the signing of nuclear deal with world powers in Vienna on the situation in the region.

“The tour will primarily seek to elaborate on Iran’s priorities in official line of policy in relation to neighbors, along with a special focus on political solutions to crises of the region,” Amir-Abdollahian had told reporters earlier on Monday, “international and regional developments will provide a subject matter for Mr. Zarif in this tour,” he was quoted to have said.
