Iran peace plan calls for inclusive natl. govt. in Yemen

TEHRAN, May 26 (MNA) – Iranian deputy FM for Arab-African Affairs said that Iran’s proposed plan for peace talks in Yemen calls for formation of a government in Yemen comprising of all political parties of the Arab country.

During a meeting with reporters in Moscow on Monday night, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian pointed to the Article 3 of Iran’s proposed plan to the UN Secretary General, and said all political parties should take part in the national consensus government in Yemen, IRNA reported.

He noted that the main purpose of the peace plan was cooperation of the countries involved in the crisis to commence talks among political and religious groups of Yemen.

Iranian official stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the Yemeni nation under any sensitive conditions.

Amir-Abdollahian went to Russia on Monday, May 25, to review the latest regional developments with Russian officials.

Major regional developments including the ongoing crisis in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Libya and Palestine, expansion of regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism tops the agenda of Amir-Abdollahian's visit to Moscow.

In April, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif proposed a four-point peace plan aimed at ending the ongoing violent conflict in Yemen. The plan includes a ceasefire, humanitarian assistance to all those affected by the violence, intra-Yemen dialogue and the creation of a government with the participation of all Yemeni groups.
