Larijani urges immediate action to resolve Yemen's crisis

TEHRAN, Apr. 14 (MNA) – Iranian parliament speaker has said Saudi invasion of Yemen would cause great damage to other Islamic countries.

In a telephone conversation with the heads of Islamic states parliaments of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Algeria late on Monday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani discussed regional issues, especially those related to the crisis in Yemen.

Saudi’s wrong approach towards Yemen’s issue will lead to adverse consequences for the Muslim world, the region and even the country itself, Larijani said, speaking to Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri.

In another phone call to Syrian parliament speaker Mohammed Jihad al-Laham, Larijani criticized Saudi’s military agression in Yemen, saying that the energy and power of an Islamic state should be used agianst the enemies of Islam the 'the usurper Zionists' and not against the poverty-stricken Muslim country such as Yemen.

Speaking to Nabih Beri, Lebanon's parliament speaker, Ali Larijani urged the the Muslim world to take an immediate action to halt Saudi’s aggression and killing the defenseless people of Yemen, following which national dialogues and Yemeni-Yemeni talks would start to resolve and end its internal crisis.

Larijani expressed regret over Saudi’s military action against the people of Yemen, saying that the invasion might cause great and irreparable damage to the Muslim World and the unity among them.

Larijani, speaking to Algerian National Assembly Speaker Mohamed Al-Arabi Walad, stressed the need to take the initiative for an immediate ceasefire to halt military operations in Yemen and the killing of children, women and men in the country.

During their talks, the heads of parliaments of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Algeria appreciated Iran’s concerns over the crisis in Yemen and called on the Muslim world to intensify efforts to bring about an immediate halt to attacks against the people of Yemen.
