Tehran to hold 1st Haft-seen Festival

TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (MNA) – The 1st Haft-seen (the seven ‘S’s) and Norooz gifts festival titled ‘The 8th S’ will be held in Tehran’s Milad Tower on Feb. 24 to March 2.

On the sidelines of the festival, several workshops will be held on various issues including the philosophy of Amu Norooz (Uncle Norooz, Persian equivalent for Santa Claus) and Naneh Sarma (Grandma Frost), Norooz table setting, giving and receiving gifts, visiting family members, aiding those in need, spring-cleaning tactics, cooking, and health and beauty tips.

The children section of the exhibition will include painting and drawing on the theme of Norooz, decorating Norooz eggs, Norooz tales as well as Amu Norooz and Naneh Sarma’s clothing.

Those interested to participate in the festival can submit their Norooz table setting designs to festival@gmail.com.

The top designs will be awarded during the closing ceremony of The 8Th S Festival on March 2.

Haft Seen or the seven 'S's is a traditional table setting of Norooz, the traditional Iranian spring celebration. The haft seen table includes seven items all starting with the letter sīn (س) in the Perso-Arabic alphabet.
