IRGC confirms death of general in Syria

TEHRAN, Jan. 20 (MNA) – IRGC public relations office has confirmed that one of its generals has been killed during Zionist regime helicopter strike in Quneitra in Syrian borders with Lebanon.

The IRGC official website posted a statement on Monday where it paid tribute to Brig. Gen. Mohammad Ali Allahdadi, described by the statement as ‘one of intrepid and pious commanders of the IRGC’ who played significant roles during the Sacred Defense years. “This pious commander was in Syria to provide military advice to Syrian government and nation in their war with Takfirist and Salafist terrorists, and provided valuable analysis and advice in neutralizing the plots of this Zionist-backed conspiracy in the Syrian soil, thus writing his name in the list of defenders of the resistance in the region,” reads part of the statement by IRGC.

Brig. Gen. Allahdadi was paying a visit to Quneitra, a border region of Syria with Lebanon, where he and six other Hezbollah fighter-warriors including former fallen commander’s son, Jihad Mughniyah were martyred by Zionists’ helicopter attack in Golan Heights.

“The martyrdom of Brig. Gen. Allahdadi and Hezbollah warrior fighters will no doubt strengthen their resolve in pursuing the ideals of Islam in confronting the Zionist regime,” reads another part of the statement, which closes with condolences for the Leader of the Islamic Republic, nations of Iran, Syria and Lebanon.
