India’s 7th JIFF to award Iranian filmmaker Majidi

TEHRAN, Jan. 19 (MNA) – Acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi will be awarded the first International Life Time Achievement Award of the 7th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF).

According to JIFF film market director Nand Kishor Jalani, the first international life time achievement award of the festical will be given to world’s renowned Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi.

Majid Majidi gained tremendous popularity in world’s film fraternity with his feature film Children of Heaven. His other well-known films include Boycott, Baran, The Color of Paradise, The Willow Tree, and The Song of Sparrows among many other titles.

Every year a great number of Iranian films are screened at Jaipur International Film Festival in India. Iran was the first guest of honor at JIFF 2011.

In this year’s edition, Iran is participating in the festival with 4 nominations: Today, Iranian Ninja, Najes and Bending the Rules. A Few Cubic Meters of Love a 2014 Iranian-Afghan romance film directed by Jamshid Mahmoudi will be the opening film of the festival.

JIFF 2015 will be held from February 1-5 at Golcha Cinema, Chamber Bhawan and Manipal University in Jaipur, India.
