Iran, Powers to resume nuclear talks in NY

TEHRAN, May 5 (MNA) – Iran and world powers will resume new round of nuclear talks in New York on Monday May 5.

International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors will visit two nuclear sites in Iran during the two following days and expert-level talks will begin on Monday in New York between Iran and representatives from world powers, commissioned by Iran and Powers in last November.

Iran and the Agency held talks in Tehran on February 9 and reached an agreement on seven practical measures to be implemented by Iran by 15 May 2014.

Tehran will be able to say after the inspections that whether it had fulfilled all seven measures agreed in February between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog, said Behrouz Kamalvandi the IAEO spokesperson.

Under the Geneva interim deal of November 2013, Tehran agreed to lower enriched uranium purity in exchange for the easing of some Western sanctions.

Iranian negotiators from Iran on one side and British, Chinese, French, German, Russian and the American will work to make a final deal before a July 20 deadline. Already, Iran said it would redesign its Arak heavy water reactor to limit the amount of plutonium.

Iran and world powers had held three rounds of expert-level and political-level nuclear talks in Swiss capital of Geneva and in Austrian capital of Vienna. Talks were aimed at finding a comprehensive solution to Tehran nuclear issue between Iran and P5+1.

New York meeting is to embark on drafting the final agreement on Iran nuclear program between Iran and world powers.

The talks from May 5 to May 9 in New York are preparing for the next ministerial-level negotiations in Vienna on May 13.
