Land mine left over from Iran-Iraq war explodes, injures 7 children

TEHRAN, Oct. 20 (MNA) – An explosion from a land mine left over from the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war has injured seven children in western Iran, the Mehr News Agency reported on Saturday.

The incident took place in the city of Marivan in Kurdistan Province on Friday while children were playing with the mine, Marivan’s governor general, Abdollah Rashidi, told the Mehr.
Explosions from leftover munitions lead to casualties in Iran from time to time.
