Ashton said the 5+1 group 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany), is ready to hold talks on Iran’s five proposals, which comprise both nuclear and non-nuclear issues.
Ashton who leads the major powers in talks with Iran expressed hope that a “common point” could be reached based on proposals presented by each side during the negotiations in Moscow on June 18 and 19.
For his part, Jalili said the 5+1 group’s unpreparedness for talks at the level of experts and chief negotiators’ deputies over the last 20 days has delayed the move toward a “constructive dialogue”.
Jalili also insisted on the need to abide by the agreements made during the talks in Istanbul on April 14 and in Baghdad on May 23-24.
He said the Iranian negotiating team will clearly elaborate on Iran’s proposals in Moscow, insisting that that “proper response” to Iran’s proposals will lead to a breakthrough in talks.
