Hague photo exhibit depicts ordeal of Sardasht chemical attack

TEHRAN, June 28 (MNA) -- An exhibition of photos on the Iraqi chemical attack on the Iranian town of Sardasht opened at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague, the Netherlands.

The program is arranged on the anniversary of the vicious bombardment of the Iranian city of Sardasht with outlawed chemical weapons by the Baathist regime of Iraq.

Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs provided photos for the exhibition attended by OPCW officials, ambassadors, and officials of the foundation.

Located in West Azerbaijan Province, Sardasht was struck by Iraqi chemical weapons on June 28, 1987 killing many civilians in the attack and injuring many more. It is believed that over 1,000 were martyred and over 8,000 were permanently disabled.
