The book by Mastur, who is mostly known in Arab countries for his “Kiss the Lovely Face of God”, was translated into Italian by Bianca Maria Filippini.
Mastur told the Persian service of Mehr News Agency that he preferred “Pig’s Bone” to be the first book that would be published and distributed in Italy.
In this book, Mastur narrates the lives of different residents of a tower in Tehran. Their problems and everyday lives are cleverly tied to each other throughout the story.
The name of the book alludes to the words of Imam Ali (AS) which is quoted in Nahj-ul-Balaqah: “By Allah, this world of yours is more despicable in my eyes than a pig bone in the hand of a leper.”
Mastur said that review sessions on the book will be held in Rome and Florence in the near future and that he will travel to Italy in early September.
An Italian version of “Pig’s Bone and Leper’s Hands” appeared at Italy’s Turin International Book Fair which was held from May 6 to 16.
The book released by the Ponte 33 Publications was unveiled during a ceremony at the book fair at the publisher’s pavilion.
“As the publishers affirmed, the book was given a warm welcome by Italians during the book fair,” he mentioned.
Ertugrul Ertekin previously translated “Pig’s Bone and Leper’s Hands” into Turkish and Maryam Heidari translated it into Arabic.
