Both Tehran and Caracas seek more cooperation in major international affairs, Khatami said.
“The two countries have been striving towards peace and justice while they have always combated acts of invasion by any country,” he stressed.
Pointing to the foreign pressure on Iran and Venezuela, Khatami stated that no big power should be given the chance to impose its hegemonic attitudes on independent nations. He also emphasized development of mutual ties between the two countries, mainly in the fields of oil and gas industries, saying that Iranian experts are ready to cooperate with their Venezuelan counterparts.
“We have both taken proper measures regarding OPEC policies,” Khatami added.
The two should still keep on insisting the rights of oil producers while, on the other hand, they should try their best to develop levels of coordination between producers and consumers, he stated.
President Khatami also stated Iran and Venezuela would discuss possibilities of manufacturing agricultural machineries during the next G15 meeting in Venezuela. Meanwhile, he appreciated the sympathy and contributions of the South American government to the quake-stricken people of Bam.
Rafael Ramirez described his visit to Iran as beneficial. He also voiced his country’s readiness to receive the Iranian President for the next G15 meeting.
