Tehran performances of German music band cancelled

TEHRAN, Feb. 6 (MNA) -- Tehran performances of Germany’s Wolfgang Haffner band scheduled for March 11 and 12 were cancelled.

The concert was arranged by the German Embassy in Tehran and was canceled due to problems band members encountered in their traveling to Iran.

 

Haffner accompanied by three members of the band was to play jazz composed by the renowned American musician Duke Ellington.

 

The band was also scheduled to tour Pakistan and India after their performances in Tehran.

 

 

Persian-speaking countries to launch joint TV channel

 

TEHRAN -- Persian-speaking countries of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan plan to launch a joint TV channel.

 

The TV channel is due to be launched before Noruz (March 21) in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan.

 

Programs on art and culture of the three countries promoting Persian culture are to be aired on this channel.

 

 

Simin Ghanem to perform concerts in Tehran

 

TEHRAN -- The female singer Simin Ghanem and her band are going to give concerts at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall for four days beginning on February 16.

 

The concert is arranged by the Rudaki Foundation and the Firuznia Charity Foundation to help raise funds for needy women and children.

 

The band features Fariba Javaheri on piano, Sara Ahmadi on daf, Azadeh Shams on violin and Armina Haji-Jafari on drums.
