Raeisi calls on UNWTO to introduce Iran tourist attractions

TEHRAN, Feb. 12 (MNA) – The Iranian president stressed the need to learn about and introduce Iranian tourist attractions by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

"The World Tourism Organization's knowledge of Iran and its cultural, civilizational potential and tourist attractions will play an important role in introducing these potentials to different countries," President Ebrahim Raeisi said on Monday in a meeting with the visiting Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili.

In the meeting, the president also stressed the need to tackle the Iranophobia project created and incited by some Western countries.

He further stressed the need for launching a new project to counter the Iranophobia project.

Raeisi went on to express happiness with the visit of the chairman of the UN tourism body to Tehran as signaling a positive development in UN support for activists who are active in the field of tourism both in Iran and the region.

Criticizing the negative image that some Western media present against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Zurab Pololikashvili considered the introduction of the rich culture and civilization of the Iranian nation as well as its historical and tourist attractions among the goals of his trip to Iran and added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has very good potential in the field of tourism, especially medical tourism."

The UNWTO secretary general further hailed the Iranian government's action in canceling visas with dozens of other countries in the world as a very important step in the development of Iran's tourism.
