Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani rejected the recent statements of former US President Donald Trump regarding Iran's contact with the United States before the missile attack on the Ain al-Asad base in January 2020 and said that a large-scale missile operation against the Ain al-Asad base which is the US most important base in Iraq carried out completely by surprise to inflict maximum destruction.
Iran informed the Iraqi prime minister before the operation due to Iran's close relations with this country in such a way that it is not possible to foresee special protective measures from the United States, he added.
Shamkhani stated that these claims come as not surprise for a liar like Trump who re-entered the presidential election despite facing lots of judicial charges.
He added that If there had been the alleged respect that Trump claimed, none of the US political and military officials who were involved in the unforgivable crime of martyring General Soleimani, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, and other Resistance commanders should have not spent the tax money of the American people on their special protection years after the incident.
Donald Trump claimed in an interview with Fox News on Sunday "Iran contacted us before attacking Iraq (On 8 January 2020) in response to the killing of Qassim Soleimani to let us know that the Americans would not be hit and would deliberately miss their targets: it was out of respect!"
