In a swift response to the targeted attacks on journalists from Al-Mayadeen channel and the consequent loss of martyrs, including Reporter Farah Omar and Photographer Rabei’ Al-Maamari, the Islamic Resistance took decisive action on Tuesday, 21-11-2023.
The resistance fighters targeted a force affiliated with Israeli military intelligence, identified as the ‘Military Assembly,’ situated in a house on the outskirts of Al-Manara settlement.
Executing the operation with precision, two guided missiles were deployed and fired, leading to casualties among its members.
The retaliation underscores the resilience and solidarity of the Islamic Resistance with the brave Palestinian people in Gaza, emphasizing that victory is sought through steadfastness against oppression.
Earlier in the day, Hezbollah Media Relations issued a statement vehemently condemning the heinous crime, extending deepest condolences to colleagues at Al-Mayadeen Channel and the families of the two martyrs, and asserting that such aggression and the martyrdom of fellow citizens will not go unanswered.
“We assert that this aggression and the accompanying martyrdom of fellow citizens will not go unanswered from the Mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance, who are engaging the enemy in the field with the most remarkable heroism and redemption,” Hezbollah said hours before the operation took place.
At least two journalists and another person were killed by a rocket strike near Lebanon’s border with Israel, local Lebanese media said.
The incident took place near the town of Tir Harfa, about 1.6km (1 mile) from the Israeli border, the Lebanese state news agency reported, according to Al-Jazeera.
The Lebanese Al-Mayadeen news network, which is close to Resistance forces across the West Asia region, reported that "Al Mayadeen's correspondent, Farah Omar, and cameraman Rabih Al-Me'mari were murdered earlier today in an Israeli airstrike in an Israeli attack on their location in Tayr Harfa, South Lebanon."
An Israeli warplane fired two rockets on Farah and Rabih's location, the Local Lebanese new network further said.
Farah and Rabih had just ended a live broadcast at 10 a.m., giving updates on the latest Israeli bombardment in South Lebanon. She and her colleagues were targeted soon after they wrapped up their coverage and went off air, the report added.
“It was a direct attack, it was not by chance,” Al Mayadeen director Ghassan bin Jiddo said, noting it came after an Israeli government decision this month to block access to Al Mayadeen’s website.
Jiddo added that the third person killed was a “contributor” to the channel.
Dozens of journalists have been killed in Israeli regime airstrikes since the start of the aggression on October 7.
