Muslim states should be unified at IPU meeting

TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – A senior Iranian lawmaker has said that Islamic countries should be unified and not allow the European consensus against the Resistance Front at the 147th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Vahid Jalalzadeh, who has traveled to Qatar, met and held talks with the speaker of Qatar’s Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem on Wednesday.

Jalalzadeh thanked the Qatari government, Parliament, and people for supporting the Palestinian people.

Referring to the good relations between Iran and Qatar, he called for strengthening parliamentary ties between the two sides.

He also appreciated the Qatari government's cooperation in the release of Iranian prisoners in the US and unfreezing Iran’s frozen funds in South Korea.

Al Ghanem, for his part, emphasized supporting the oppressed Palestinian people, saying, "We must not allow the people of Gaza to be held hostage without providing basic necessities such as food and water."

The 147th Assembly of the IPU and its associated meetings are scheduled to take place from October 23 to 27 in Angola.
