Hamas calls for Muslims' protests in support of Palestine

TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (MNA) – Hamas on Tuesday called for protests in the Arab and Islamic world next Friday in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their resistance.

On Saturday, Palestinian Resistance group Hamas launched a large-scale operation with a heavy barrage of rockets in response to the Israeli regime's desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and increased settler violence. The Israeli regime's military forces also announced it was launching Operation 'Iron Swords' in retaliation for the attack.

On Sunday night, Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voted to put the regime officially at war.

The death toll from the Palestinian side and the Zionist side are increasing dramatically as the conflict between them continues.

At least 770 Palestinians killed in Israeli regime's attacks: Health ministry

At least 770 Palestinians have been killed and 4,000 wounded in the Israeli regime's air strikes, Al Jazeera reported, citing Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Among the dead are 140 children and 120 women, a ministry spokesperson said.

At least another 18 people were killed and 100 injured in the occupied West Bank since Saturday, the ministry added.

Hamas has called for protests in the Arab and Islamic world next Friday to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their resistance.

The Palestinian Resistance movement dubbed next Friday as Al-Aqsa Storm Friday.

It also urged the Palestinians living in the occupied territories to gather next to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevent settlers from entering the holy place.

WHO calls for humanitarian corridor into Gaza

The World Health Organization has called for a humanitarian corridor into the Gaza Strip.

“WHO is calling for an end to the violence… a humanitarian corridor is needed to reach people with critical medical supplies,” WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic told a press briefing in Geneva.

The WHO said 13 attacks have hit health facilities in Gaza since the escalation began and that pre-positioned medical supplies have already been used up.

Israeli regime's air attacks have struck residential buildings, including large tower blocks, as well as schools and UN buildings across Gaza, resulting in civilian casualties, the United Nations Human Rights chief has said, citing information gathered by his office.

Total siege of Gaza ‘prohibited’ under international law: UN

Israeli regime’s total siege of the Gaza Strip is banned under international law, Al Jazeera quoted the United Nations human rights chief as saying.

“The imposition of sieges that endanger the lives of civilians by depriving them of goods essential for their survival is prohibited under international humanitarian law,” Volker Turk said in a statement.

UN condemns the ‘total blockade’ of Gaza

The UN secretary-general says he is “deeply distressed” by the Israeli regime’s decision to impose a total blockade on the Gaza Strip which will worsen the already dire situation.

Al Jazeera also quoted him as saying that this latest fighting did not arise from a vacuum, but from a decades-long occupation with no end in sight.

UNRWA: Situation in Gaza ‘extremely worrying’ amid Israeli bombardment

The United Nations relief agency for Palestinian refugees warns that it is “extremely worrying” that tens of thousands of Gaza residents, who have fled their homes due to the continuous bombardment by the Israeli regime, are unable to access basic services.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, UNRWA spokesperson Tamara al-Rifai confirmed that all 14 distribution centers in Gaza are being shut due to the latest conflict, adding that the agency’s Gaza headquarters also “sustained significant damage” following a bombardment of a nearby area overnight. A total of 18 UNRWA buildings have been damaged.

“It is extremely damaging for people. For us, it is extremely worrying that they cannot access any of these basic services,” al-Rifai said.

The latest UNRWA figures show at least 137,000 people have sought shelter after they were displaced from their homes since Saturday.

Israeli regime bombed more than 200 locations in Gaza

The Israeli regime's military said it has brutally launched attacks on more than 200 locations in the Gaza Strip overnight, including the Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City as well as Khan Younis city, Al Jazeera reported.

Gaza health ministry appeals for ‘safe corridor’ for medical aid

The Palestinian health ministry in Gaza has called for the opening of a “safe corridor to ensure the entry of urgent medical aid” into the territory’s hospitals, which are now overwhelmed with the dead and wounded.

It said Zionist forces targeted four ambulances east of the city of Khan Younis overnight and that the bombing of the city of Beit Hanoun has put its only hospital out of service, according to Al Jazeera.

“There continues to be a lack of electricity to operate the health care system. This threatens the lives of all sick and injured people,” the health ministry added in a separate statement.

The US has no intention to send ground troops to occupied Palestine amid its war with the Palestinian group Hamas, the White House said Monday. 

"There's no intention to put US troops on the ground," Anadolu Agency quoted White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby as saying.

Hamas says goals of operation achieved, open to talks

Palestinian Hamas movement has achieved the goals of its operation in the occupied land and now it is open to any discussions, a member of the movement's political bureau Mousa Abu Marzouq said on Tuesday, Sputnik reported.

"We have achieved our goals ... We are open to any discussions and political dialogue," Abu Marzouq told a regional broadcaster, adding that the movement is "not closed to negotiations."

Three journalists killed, injured during Zionist regime airstrikes

Palestinian local sources reported that following an airstrike conducted by the Israeli regime on a building in Gaza, two journalists were killed and another one was injured.
