Pendulum swinging in favor of Palestinians

TEHRAN, Dec. 10 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said here on Saturday that over the past several decades the situation in Palestine has become more dynamic, and the pendulum is beginning to swing in favor of the Palestinian people to the detriment of international Zionism.

In a meeting with members of the secretariat of the International Congress to Support the Islamic Revolution in Palestine, a Tehran-based non-governmental organization, the Supreme Leader said that the current situation in Palestine shows that there is a real hope that the Muslim Ummah will be able to settle the issue in favor of the Palestinian nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the sensitivity of the Zionists and their U.S. allies toward Iran and any remarks made about the Zionist regime show that they are extremely weak and fear the fact that Islamic nations are paying attention to the Palestinian issue.

Despite all the Zionist plots, the campaign against the occupiers of Al-Aqsa Mosque has turned into a “strong tree” within Islamic lands, which the global arrogance will never be able to uproot, the Supreme Leader noted.

He said that Iran's proposal to hold a referendum in occupied Palestine has been welcomed by Muslim nations and other countries around the world, adding that the Muslim Ummah will seriously pursue the issue of the repatriation of Palestinian refugees and make efforts to prevent the destruction of Holy Qods.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Zionist regime has suffered setbacks in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, adding that the construction of the apartheid wall has proven that this regime is not able to control the Palestinian Intifada.

The Leader called the international congress on Palestine a very important event and noted that the Iranian government and parliament are fully prepared to support the congress.

Prior to the Supreme Leader's remarks, Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said that the NGO would hold a conference in Tehran in March 2006.
