Turkey: No right for France to preach Turkey on Afrin Op.

TEHRAN, Feb.1 (MNA) – Commenting on French President's remarks on Turkey's Afrin Operation, Turkish Foreign Minister says France has no right to preach Turkey.

Turkey considers France’s remarks regarding its operation into northern Syria’s Afrin region as “insults”, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday, according to Reuters.

French President Emmanuel Macron warned Turkey on Wednesday that its operation against Kurdish militias in northern Syria should not become an excuse to invade Syria, saying he wanted Ankara to coordinate its action with its allies.

Speaking to reporters in Ankara, Cavusoglu also said that the Syrian peace talks in Geneva needed to be revived, adding that the Syrian government needed to start negotiating in order to do so, after a Russian-sponsored conference on reaching peace in Syria was held this week in the Black Sea resort town of Sochi.

“If France is interpreting this issue as an [invasion operation], we need to assess what they have done in Syria accordingly,” Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım also told reporters at a joint press conference with visiting Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Jan. 31.

“This is a crooked idea from the start. The whole world knows that Turkey is not acting with an invasive mind. They should know it too,” he said.
