US plays role of crook in region: Larijani

TEHRAN, Dec. 19 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has said all the countries attending Meeting of the PUIC Presidential Troika agreed to confront the efforts to cover up the Palestinian issue.

Larijani made the remarks during a tripartite press conference with his Iraqi and Malian counterparts, following the Meeting of the PUIC Presidential Troika, which wrapped up in Tehran on Monday.

“US plays the role of a crook in the region and they are proud of their scams, however,” Larijani expressed regret, adding the Americans misused the political turmoil in the region, and openly talked about the relocation of al-Quds capital, so we should not allow this issue to end easily,” he noted.

He further criticized some Muslim countries for holding ties with the Zionist regime, which is definitely a strategic mistake, and it will be detrimental to both Muslim countries and the Islamic world.

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri, for his part, ensured Iraq is honestly supporting the people of Palestine and wants justice for them. He also underlined the need for strengthening relations with Palestine to fight against the Zionist regime.

Pointing to the relocation of Zionist regime’s capital to al-Quds, al-Jabouri said US president decided to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds in the framework of his electoral campaign promise, but he should know that these acts will get crushing responses.

President of the National Assembly of Mali Issaka Sidibé, for his part, said the meeting will pave the way for the 13th Palestinian Conference to be held in Tehran on January.

"We have never forgotten al-Quds, we have not raised the issue of developing relations with the Zionist regime at all. Mali is composed of 90% of the Muslim population, our position is certainly to protect the Palestinian people,” he added.

An Extraordinary Meeting of the PUIC Standing Committee on Palestine to address Trump's decision for relocation of US embassy to al-Quds was held on Monday in Tehran, with participation of representatives from 11 Muslim countries. Parliamentary delegations from Jordan, Algeria, Senegal, Turkey, Palestine, Morocco, Chad, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, and Mali took part in the meeting.
