Iran holds talks with Russian, Turkish delegations in Astana

ASTANA, Jan. 22 (MNA) – The Iranian delegation has held separate talks with the Russian and Turkish side on the latest developments and agendas for the Astana talks scheduled for 23-24 January in Kazakh captial.

On Saturday afternoon in the Kazakh capital Astana, an Iranian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari took part in separate meetings with the Russian delegation headed by Putin’s special envoy on Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, and the Turkish delegation headed by Undersecretary for the Middle East and Africa, Sedat Onal.

The sides discussed the necessary preparations and agendas for the upcoming Astana talks on 23-24 January where representatives of the Syrian government and the opposition groups will sit down at the negotiating table in an effort to reach a political solution for the country’s crisis. Iran, Russia and Turkey will participate in the meeting as observers.
