Participants will compete for two days in four different categories including Regular, Open, WRO Football, and Advanced Robotics Challenge designed for university students to "build robots that can pick up a bowling ball from the ball rack, see where the target is and precisely aim to score points by knocking down as many bowling pins as possible".
According to Morteza Farazmand, the head of the Iranian delegation participating in the event, 14 student and university student teams from Tehran, Zanjan, Shahroud, Qazvin, Shiraz and Abhar are taking part in the international completion.
“The teams will compete in all the four categories and in different age groups,” he added.
Farazmand noted the participation of powerful teams from East Asia in the event, expressing hope that the Iranian delegation would obtain good results.
The event is organised jointly by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) under the aegis of Ministry of Culture and India STEM Foundation (ISF) from November 25-27 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.
Iran ranked fifth in the 12th edition of World Robot Olympiad held in 2015 in Qatar.
