Iran ready to share refugee-related experiences with EU

Leader’s senior advisor pointed to common approaches and viewpoints of Iran and Cyprus towards foreign policy issues and the fight against terrorism adding “strong determination of both sides is to launch a real combat against agents and roots of terrorism as well as to prevent its spread.”

“Current conditions in Syria and Iraq clearly divulge identities of countries who benefit from the presence of terrorism and who supply them with weaponry and assets in order to sustain insecurity inside the region,” he continued.

Shamkhani emphasized that terrorism has no geographical boundaries today clarifying “unfortunately, presence of terrorists in Europe and several acts carried by them has not affected wrong policies of certain countries who are threatening their own citizens by supporting armed Takfiri groups.”

SNSC secretary further stressed the need for continuous humanitarian aid to Syrian and Yemeni people who are in tough conditions voicing Iran’s readiness to deploy aids to the two nations in collaborations with international organizations.”

He touched the inhumane behavior of certain countries towards refugees reiterating that Iran has taken serious steps to assist asylum-seekers and refugees inside the region and is willing to transfer relevant experiences to Europe.

Cyprus’s Demetris Syllouris, for his part, referred the high and constructive position of Iran in the region and its influential role in the fight against terrorism expressing hope that his trip would lead to elevation of Tehran-Nicosia ties.

He also outlined the deal between Iran and the 5+1 group of countries in the course of nuclear negotiations as a monumental achievement for the international community adding “proper grounds for development of cooperation will be created of both sides remained committed to obligations of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).”
