Payame Noor University squad, who represents Iran at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) 3x3 FISU World University League underway in China, managed to get the better of Indiana University of the USA 21-15.
The Iranian outfit had opened the tournament by pulling out a 16-9 victory over University of Johannesburg who represented Republic of South Africa.
Given the two victories so far, Payame Noor University has confirmed its place among the top eight teams and is slated to take on Serbia’s University of Kragujevac in its third preliminary encounter on Saturday.
On 21 October 2016, the 2nd edition of the 3x3 FISU World University League started in Xiamen of China and will run for 3 days and with the finals on 23 October.
In total, 32 teams, 16 teams of each gender, from 23 countries representing five continents will compete to win the tournament of this year’s FISU 3x3 WUL.
The participating teams, in large majority, have qualified via continental qualifying tournaments organised by the Continental University Sport Federations, associate members of FISU, quick feedback of those tournaments and introduction of the teams.
