Brazil beats Iran in FIVB World League

TEHRAN, Jun. 25 (MNA) – Iran’s national volleyball team conceded a 3-1 defeat against Brazil in a Pool F1 - Group 1 match at the 2016 FIVB World League.

In a tough encounter held on Friday evening at Hall Aleksandar Nikolic in Belgrade of Serbia, the Iranian team lost the match to the Brazilian squad 1-3 only winning the second set (18-25, 26-24, 16-25 and 17-25).

Iran had previously hammered Bulgaria 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20) on Thursday in the opening match of the second week of the tournament.

Despite Iran’s excellent sportive performance at the beginning of the first set, it was Brazil who gained an 8-6 lead at the first technical timeout and finished the set 25-18.

The Persian side managed to take the lead in the second set with Adel Gholami’s eye-catching skills on the net. Iran continued to offer good serves and attacks earning points while the Brazilians ties the game at 24. However, it was Seyed Mohammad Mousavi who finished the set 26-24 in Iran’s favor.

Brazil out powered Iran all through the two following sets by ending the third set 25-16 and the last one 25-17.

The national Iranian men’s volleyball team is scheduled to meet Serbia in their third encounter at the second week of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) World League 2016.
