Media crucial in ‘channeling public opinion’

JAKARTA, May 26 (MNA) – A Muslim Leader, Imam of Muslim Jama’a of Indonesia, has said the mainstream media has been run by circles inimical to the religion of Islam.

Yakhshi Allah Mansour, who was speaking in the opening session of International Conference on Islamic Media in Indonesia on Thursday, said that the media had enough power to ‘channel public opinions’ in the desired direction. He also called all Muslim nations to unity and a collective effort to liberate the Occupied Palestine and the Holy Quds (Al-Aqsa Mosque).

The present edition of International Conference on Islamic Media pursues the theme of ‘Islamic Media Unity to Protect Muslim and Islamic Countries’ Interests, Especially of Palestine.’

The Imam of Indonesian Muslims also believed that Muslims had been an Umma enjoying far more capabilities and capacities than other nations; “if the media is worked out to promote potentials of unity among Muslim nations, this potential will be realized in practice; I believe that the conference should move in a direction to condemn and fight false images of Islam in the media, especially those of the Islamic countries which have been advertising a fixed frame to represent Islam as such,” he emphasized.
