Time ‘propitious’ to address Palestinian issue

JAKARTA, May 26 (MNA) – Indonesian deputy foreign minister has said Palestinian issue still occupies an important place in Indonesian foreign policy.

Mr. Abdorrahman Mohammad Fakher addressed the International Conference on Islamic Media on Thursday where he expressed gratitude to Miraj and Antara news Agencies for their coverage of the conference and also to other organizers of the conference.; “now time is propitious more than ever to discuss coming to a unity for the sake of Palestine; as evident in the theme of the conference, Indonesia firmly believes that unity is the sole remedy for the Palestinian issue which still remains a priority for the country as it should be so for other Islamic countries,” he addressed the meeting.

Fakher said that solidarity was a mission in the path to which “we should learn the ways of handling the differences, since it should be recognized that differences are natural to any religion and its sects; today, we are in a better place than in the past to address possible solutions to the issue; moderation along with other virtues such as justice and unity is key to Islamic world health.”

Fakher also touched upon Syrian and Iraqi crises, dubbing them as human disasters underway and which transferred a message to Muslims and non-Muslims alike; “the present conference duly sought to promote the idea that Islam should fight spread of extremism and violence in its own name,” he concluded.
