'Syria would not be allowed to be new Libya’

DAMASCUS, May 07 (MNA) – Leader’s senior adviser has told Syrian foreign minister Resistance will not allow Syria to turn to a new Libya, effectively aborting well-orchestrated efforts by the hostile parties.

Ali Akbar Velayati is in Damascus for a series of meetings with Syrian government officials. He had met President Bashar al-Assad, Vael al-Halqi, the Prime Minister earlier during his visit. Velayati met on Saturday Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem to discuss the latest developments on the ground in Syria.

He praised Syrian government and people’s resistance and resilience on the face of unremitting onslaught by terrorists, Takfirists, and other hostile parties for about 5 years; “today, it should be regarded as an honor to tackle the torrents of crisis and to recover from the wounds of terrorism once inflicted upon the body of Syria,” Mr. Velayati soared to heights of eloquence, “during my visit to warriors, wounded in the war fronts, I found them buoyant with a spirit with a quest for victory and ultimate triumph over the forces of darkness.”

“The strong spirit will bring their success in defeating enemies of Syria,” he added.

“The enemies of Syria had experimented with Libya to turn the country to a den of terrorists; now they plan the same destiny for Syria, unaware of the fact that Resistance front will now allow such a plan to be implemented,” Velayati told al-Muallem.

Walid al-Muallem for his part, said that what had been achieved in fighting terrorists had come from support by the Islamic Republic of Iran as the sole defender of the Resistance front; “this is imperative that in political and economic fields, the country keeps prepared in line with its military preparation under dire situations of the Middle East, which will be possible for Syria thank to aid from its friends,” he told Leader’s adviser and head of Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys excellent strength and sovereignty in the region and it had come despite all restrictions and sanctions to bring the country down to its knees; we voice our gratitude to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution for the country’s unassuming support for Syrian government and people; we know Iran an honest friend of ours,” al-Muallem emphasized.
