He said, despite the fact that the subsidized goods should not be traded at the border markets, lack of the adequate supervision by the responsible authorities has resulted in the transit of the subsidized fuel from the country adding that, in their bid to prevent the trafficking, the police forces will control the activities of the construction brick producing plants and the chicken farming units located at the borders to see if the subsidized fuel they receive is proportionate to their actual output products.
“The difference in prices of one liter of the subsidized fuel oil with the price of the equal amount of the commodity in the free market is something about 900 rials, therefore, a number of people in the region are tempted to, under the pretext of producing bricks, receive the 600-rial fuel and sell it for 1500 rials”, the official also explained.
He further added that last year, about 3,540 tons of smuggled flour was confiscated at the borders, which is unfortunately indicative of 48% increase in smuggling compared to the figures in the year before.
