In order to participate in new projects for the development of Iran’s petrochemical industry during post-sanction era, representatives of Iran's National Petrochemical Company and Spain’s largest investor, SERCOBE, have launched their new round of talks.
Accordingly, this round of negotiations was held in Tehran between the Deputy Petroleum Minister of Iran, Abbas Sheri-Moghaddam and CEO of SERCOBE , Juan-Ramon Duran.
Pointing to the interest of Spanish companies in Spain’s petrochemical industry, Juan-Ramon Duran said at the meeting that, “Spanish firms are looking forward to the lifting of sanctions in order to take part in Iran’s petrochemical projects.”
Explaining various methods of making investments, the Spanish official stated that, “currently 250 Spanish companies are eager to take part in and cooperate with Iran’s petrochemical industry.”
“We are planning to sign a long-term contract with Iran in various areas of petrochemical sector,” noted he.
Senior Advisor to Petroleum Minister, Amir Hassan Fallah also said at the meeting that, “we believe the majority of Iranian projects will be completed by direct investment of Spanish companies to provide us with the possibility of building new products.”
Spain is among the few European countries which collaborated with Iran’s petrochemical industry during the sanction years; therefore the proper settings for developing bilateral cooperation already exist between the two sides.
Hailing the proposals made by Spanish companies for investing in several projects, the Deputy Petroleum Minister of Iran, Abbas Sheri-Moghaddam also stated that, “considering high capacities of the Middle East for petrochemical activities, collaborating with Iran’s projects will bring about a brilliant future for the two countries.”
Emphasizing that Iran’s National Petrochemical Company trusts Spain’s SERCOBE due to its positive background, Sheri-Moghaddam noted that, “within two years after the removal of sanctions, many companies would demand investment in Iranian projects but trustworthy companies will be our priority.”
