Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif who is visiting Tunisia in his third regional tour after the nuclear deal between Iran and 5+1 in Vienna, attended a press conference with Tunisian reporters on Tuesday.
Iran’s diplomacy chief reiterated that Iranians do not trust the Americans and observing the JCPOA to the letter is the only chance for the United States to build up partially the confidence they have lost.
Zarif elaborated on his statement saying that US support for Israeli oppression of Palestinians is one of the reasons why Iranians do not trust the American policies.
Iranian foreign minister insisted on dialogue in resolving issues and added that even for an unnecessary issue like Iran’s wholly peaceful nuclear program we dialogued with Americans and found a framework for solving the problem.
Iran’s top diplomat affirmed that the talks were confined to one topic and, “we do not expect other issues we did not discuss to be resolved.”
In response to a question alleging Iran’s dominance over four Arab capitals, the Iranian Minister held that Iran has always showed respect for Arab nations and nobody is dominant over Arab capitals.
Zarif arrived in Tunis on Monday and was welcomed by Tunisian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arabic-African Affairs Tahami al-Abd-vali.
After Tunisia, Zarif is to visit Algeria in the second leg of his third regional tour. Zarif has already visited Lebanon, Syria, India, Pakistan, Qatar, Kuwait and Iraq.
