18th Assembly of Experts meeting kicks off in Tehran

TEHRAN, Sep. 01 (MNA) – The 18th meeting of Assembly of Experts, headed by Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi, started here on Tuesday.

Speaking at the meeting, Chaiman of the Assembly Ayatollah Yazdi praised the nuclear negotiating team for their efforts in defense of Iran's rights in talks with world states.

He announced that the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA) is under discussion in the Parliament.

The official called the nuclear talks with world powers unprecedented in the history of diplomacy.

He reiterated that the Supreme National Security Council as well as the Parliament would investigate the JCPOA and take the legal decision finally.

Nuclear negotiations, JCPOA and regional issues are among topics under investigation during the meeting which will wrap up on Wednesday, September 2.

Member of National Security Council and top nuclear negotiator in the former Iranian government Saeed Jalili, Iranian current senior nuclear negotiator and deputy FM Seyed Abbas Araghchi and an IRGC commander will be present as special guests at the 18th meeting of Assembly of Experts.

Members of Iran's Assembly of Experts are slated to meet Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The Assembly of Experts (also Assembly of Experts of the Leadership) of Iran, is a deliberative body of top Islamic theologians that is charged with electing and removing the Leader of Iran and supervising his activities.
