Compulsory deport against human rights: Deputy FM

TEHRAN, Apr. 19 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates Affairs, criticizing the compulsory deport of refugees by some Western countries, stressed that the voluntary return of any Iranian to the country is welcomed.

Following the recent visit of Australian FM to Tehran, Hassan Ghashghavi said the visit was made to discuss the bilateral cooperation as well as the latest developments of nuclear negotiations.

“Australian officials have always meetings on issue of refugees with Iranian officials as Australia is one of the most popular destinations for the refugees,” he added.

The official continued that the host countries filter out their needed forces to be absorbed in a specific period and refer the others to the embassies’ consular sections to be deported by obligation.

Ghashghavi, declaring that the main demand of Western countries from Iran is to accept the compulsory deport, asserted “Iran considers compulsory deport as human right violation, however, the voluntary return of Iranians would face no objection and embassies are due to prepare the ground for volunteers.”

The official meanwhile said Iran has no official statistics on Iranian refugees as they often avoid submitting their information to related centers.
