Persian Literature Scholars and Scientists Gather in Punah

TEHRAN - MEHR NEWS AGENCY -- Attended by Indian, Iranian cultural officials, Persian language scholars, scientists, as well as the Iranian ambassador to India, the 24th International Seminar on Persian Scholars Association was inaugurated in a special ceremony on Saturday, May 31.

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Siavash Zargar Ya'qoubi noted in his inaugural address the deep cultural relations and commonalties between the two states and added, "Extremist thoughts particularly from Afghanistan tried constantly to destabilize such ancient connection and friendship. They tried very hard to destroy Persian language and culture, as well as traditional ceremonies such as Norouz and national symbols. However, after the fall of Taleban regime the cultural relations increased significantly, particularly with India and other regional states."

The ambassador asked all scholars and teachers to safeguard and promote Persian language and literature as a cultural heritage, strengthening social relations between all regional states.

The 3-day event is held annually in a different Indian city, in which scholars and scientists present articles on Persian language and literature as well as its influence on international relations throughout the continent.
