TEHRAN Nov. 3 (Mehr News Agency) – Over 225,000 Iranian and foreign tourists visited the natural and historical sites of Kurdistan Province in the current year, said head of Kurdistan Touring and Tourism Department.

Hossein Ahmadiniaz added that the sum shows an increase of 35% compared to the last year. Several bazaars including Bashmaq in Marivan, Siranband in Baneh as well as natural sites and historical regions in Sanandaj are the major tourist attraction of the province.

Ahmadiniaz mentioned that over 1350 historical monuments are discovered in the region. The mild climates of the region, regional traditions, religious ceremonies and local costumes have created a good ground to boost the local tourism industry.
