Talaei appointed deputy FM for economic affairs

TEHRAN, Feb. 8 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki on Thursday appointed Mohsen Talaei as his deputy for economic affairs.

Talaei was Iran’s ambassador to Tokyo until recently. Former deputy foreign minister for European and American affairs Abbas Araqchi has replaced Talaei as Iran’s new envoy to Japan.

 

Talaei was also Iran’s ambassador to South Korea. He is trained in economy and held various posts at the Management and Planning Organization until 1991.

 

 

Hosseini takes over as ministry director for Asian affairs

 

Mottaki also appointed Mohammad-Ali Hosseini as Foreign Ministry director for Asian affairs.

 

Hosseini also serves as the ministry spokesman and special assistant to Mottaki.

 

He had previously held administrative posts at the Foreign Ministry for Middle East, Persian Gulf, and Middle Asia affairs.

 

Safari to lead European affairs

 

Deputy Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Mahdi Safari is appointed as deputy minister for European affairs.

 

Safari had formerly acted as Iran’s ambassador to Moscow. He was also tasked to follow up the Caspian Sea legal regime.
