Schimmel’s recitation of Rumi’s poetry on sale in Germany

TEHRAN, Jan. 20 (MNA) -- A selection of Rumi’s poetry translated into German and recited by orientalist Annemarie Schimmel has been released on a CD by Hadi-tech Publications and is on sale in Germany.

Schimmel’s recitation was recorded at Köln radio station a few months before her death after efforts made by Iran’s cultural office.

 

Schimmel (April 7, 1922 - January 26, 2003) was a well-known, influential German Iranologist and scholar who wrote extensively on Islam and Sufism.

 

 

“Cold Soil” enters Geneva’s Black Movie Festival

 

TEHRAN -- “Cold Soil” by Reza Sobhani is to be screened at Geneva’s Black Movie Festival, held every year in February.

 

This will be the first time that the movie, which is about a family living in a desert and which is in dire need of water, has entered an international gala.

 

The festival showcases the best new films from Asia, Africa and Latin America.
