He said the electorate judge the elected officials based on their performance.
“People look at the actions,” Mohtashamipur told the Mehr News Agency in an exclusive interview.
If a movement forgets its slogans after reaching power the people will not vote for it again, the former minister stated.
“If the reformists want to succeed, they should review their previous mistakes, devise a framework for their future activities, and should all sign the covenant,” he commented.
On the result of the upcoming Majlis elections, he said, “it depends on the actions of the rival factions.”
“The reformists did not have a clear goal in regard to the Islamic Republic’s system, and disagreed with each other… and they were mostly concerned with the intellectuals rather than the public,” he explained.
Evaluating the Ahmadinejad administration
“Every administration has weak and strong points; a government may act weak in some areas and strong in some others,” the senior member of the Association of Combatant Clerics noted.
He said the Ahmadinejad administration has its own foreign policy which has created some disputes between Iran and certain foreign countries but instead it has improved the country’s ties with Islamic countries.
Nuclear breakthrough
The reformist cleric stated that nuclear achievements are mostly owed to the insights of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“This advancement is owed to the deep thinking, bravery and decisions of the Supreme Leader,” he noted.
