Biden, Saudi crown prince discuss developments in Gaza

TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – The President of the United States and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, in a phone conversation on Tuesday, discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stressed the necessity of stopping the military escalation in the Gaza Strip, affirming his rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians.

"During the call, the military escalation currently taking place in Gaza and the efforts being made regarding it were discussed," the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Bin Salman stressed "the need to work immediately to discuss ways to stop military operations that have claimed the lives of innocent people and to reject targeting civilians in any way or targeting infrastructure and vital interests that affect their daily lives or forced displacement."

He also stressed "the need for calm, stopping the escalation, and preventing the situation from deteriorating, affecting the security and stability of the region."

The Saudi crown prince also called for lifting the siege on Gaza and adhering to international humanitarian law as well as allowing entry of aid into the enclave.

Biden, for his part, thanked bin Salman for his “efforts to reduce the pace of escalation and prevent it from expanding in the region.”

The Israeli regime launched the devastating war on October 7 after the Gaza-based Palestinian Resistance groups staged Operation al-Aqsa Storm, a surprise attack on the occupied territories, in response to the Israeli regime’s intensified crimes against the Palestinian people. The war has so far killed at least 5,791 people across Gaza, including more than 2,000 children and about 1,400 women.
