Huge protests in Egypt in support of Gaza

TEHRAN, Oct. 20 (MNA) – Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, and other main cities across the country on Friday, demanding the opening of the Rafah crossing to allow aid for Palestinians.

Huge rallies in Egypt in support of Gaza:

Several thousand people gathered in Cairo’s Tahrir Square, despite a heavy deployment of security forces, calling for Israel to stop its bombardment of the Gaza Strip, one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

Demonstrators were demanding the opening of the Rafah crossing, on the Egypt-Gaza border, to allow aid into Gaza. The crossing is currently the only gateway to Gaza, which has been under siege by the Israeli regime. 

Israel bombed the crossing at least five times since it launched its war on Gaza on October 7, on both the Egyptian and the Palestinian sides. The latest attack was on Friday on the Gaza side.

People were also chanting slogans against the government of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, demanding the closure of the Israeli embassy and the expulsion of the regime's ambassador.

Over 40 Palestinians killed on 13th day of Israeli war on Gaza:

More than 40 Palestinians have been killed on the 13th day of the bloody Israeli bombing campaign on the fully besieged Gaza Strip.

Citing witnesses and medical sources, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that on Thursday over 30 people were also killed in Israeli aerial assaults on the city of Rafah, south of Gaza.

Nine more Palestinians, including seven children, lost their lives in similar Israeli strikes on a house in the southern city of Khan Yunis, the report added.

It also said Israeli air raids killed a Palestinian baby in the Nuseirat refugee camp and a child west of Khan Yunis.

Hamas frees two American prisoners for humanitarian reasons:

 Hamas' armed wing, the Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, has released two US prisoners from Gaza - a mother and her daughter - "for humanitarian reasons" in response to Qatari mediation efforts in the war with Israel, its spokesman Abu Ubaida said on Friday.

Iran Red Crescent dispatches 1st humanitarian aid to Gaza:

The Iranian Red Crescent Society dispatched the first shipment of humanitarian aid to Egypt to reach the people of the Gaza Strip on Friday.

UN chief visits Egypt’s Rafah crossing:

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres payid a visit to the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing with Gaza on Friday.

Cargo planes and trucks have been bringing humanitarian aid to Rafah for days, but so far none has been delivered to the Gaza Strip, which Israel has besieged and bombed for 13 days, AFP reported.

Guterres said there was an "absolute need to have these trucks moving as soon as possible and as many as necessary", adding that "this must be a sustained effort".

"We are not looking for one convoy to come but we are looking for convoys to be authorised in a meaningful number to have enough trucks to provide support to Gaza's people," the UN chief said.

Hamas ready for Zionist regime ground assault:

The former leader of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal, has said that the Resistance group's forces are fully ready for a ground operation by the Zionist Israeli regime.

The head of the political office of Hamas outside the borders of Palestine said in an interview that the Zionist regime was greatly shocked after the Al-Aqsa Storm operation.

Meshaal said about the plans of the occupiers to end the presence of Hamas in Gaza that, "The Hamas movement and the Palestinian nation are the manifestation of God's will in this land."

Israeli cabinet orders to shut down Qatar Al-Jazeera:

The cabinet of the Provisional Zionist regime ordered that the broadcasting ... Qatari channel "Al Jazeera" be stopped in all occupied Palestine.

Saudi Crown Prince calls for end of fighting in Gaza:

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said on Friday during the opening speech at the GCC-ASEAN summit in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh that "Military operations in Gaza, which harm civilian lives and infrastructure, have to be stopped."

The Crown Prince called for an end to the fighting and said “we are pained by the escalating violence that Gaza is witnessing.”

Rafah crossing not expected to open Friday for vital Gaza aid, sources tell CNN

The Rafah crossing is not expected to open Friday for a convoy of humanitarian aid to get to Gaza, multiple sources told CNN,

US officials now expect that the first convoy of trucks carrying humanitarian aid into Gaza from Egypt will cross the border this weekend, possibly by Saturday.
