China urges Israel regime to stop massacre in Gaza

TEHRAN, Oct. 15 (MNA) – Reacting to the Israel regime's crimes in Gaza, China's top diplomat Wang Yi said that China opposes and condemns all acts that harm civilians, as they violate basic human conscience.

Wang Yi expressed concerns about the escalating Israel-Palestine conflict as Israel ordered one million people from the northern part of Gaza to evacuate within 24 hours as it prepared for a ground assault, Global Times reports.

In his phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Saturday, Yi said China opposes and condemns all acts that harm civilians, as they violate basic human conscience and the fundamental principles of international law.

Israel's actions go beyond the scope of self-defense. It should heed the calls of the international community and the UN Secretary-General and avoid collective punishment of the people of Gaza, Wang said.

The Chinese Foreign Minister said all parties should not take any actions that escalate the situation and instead should return to the negotiation table as soon as possible.

China is actively communicating with all parties to push for a ceasefire. The immediate priority is to ensure the safety of civilians, quickly open humanitarian rescue channels, and meet the basic needs of the people of Gaza, Wang said.

The remarks came after the Israeli regime called up an unprecedented 300,000 reservists, declaring a "long" war on Gaza in response to Operation al-Aqsa Storm. The operation was launched by the Gaza-based Palestinian resistance movements last Saturday in response to the occupying regime's decades-long campaign of bloodshed and destruction against Palestinians.

As many as 2,269 people, including over 700 Palestinian children, have been so far killed and 9,814 others injured since the regime launched its bloody aggression against the coastal territory.
