Arabic Translation of Shariati’s "Islamology" to Be Published Soon

TEHRAN, Sept.27 (Mehr News Agency) -- Written by the late Iranian sociologist and revolutionary intellectual Dr. Ali Shariati, "Islamology" will be published in Arabic by the Lebanese publisher Dar-ul-Amir in Beirut, said Muhammad Hussein Bazi, managing director of the publication office.

"In an agreement with Shariati's wife, Pouran Shariat Razavi, our office has already published some works of this great intellectual in Lebanon and we plan to translate his other works in near future," added Bazi.

Shariati's works "Hajj," "Fatima Is Fatima," "Fathers! Mothers! We Are Accused," "Religion Vs. Religion," "Martyrdom," "Alavid Shi'ism and Safavid Shi'ism," "Muhammad, the Last Prophet," "Ummah and Imamate," and "Returning to the Self" have been already published in Arabic by the publisher in Beirut.

Twenty-six years ago he died but his works are still welcomed by academics and intellectuals in the Arab community particularly in Lebanon, said Bazi, adding, now they need his thoughts and wisdom more than any other time.

Ali Shariati, at the age of forty four and as an Islamic intellectual left Iran for England during the reign of the deposed Shah. Three weeks later, he was killed by SAVAK, Shah's intelligence service agents in London on June 19, 1977. He was buried in Damascus, Syria.
